Privacy Policy

UnpluggedAI runs the AI model entirely on your own device. Your messages, the system prompt, and the model's replies are processed and generated locally by your device's GPU — never sent to a server for that processing. What happens to the resulting conversation text afterward depends on whether you're signed in: kept only on this device if not, or synced to your own account if you are (see below).

What we don't collect

We run no analytics or tracking script anywhere on this site, and we never read, analyze, or use your conversations for any purpose of our own (including training a model). If you're signed in, your chat history is stored in your own account's Firestore document purely so it's available across your devices — see the next section.

What network activity does happen

The app is not entirely offline-only — a few things genuinely leave your device, each for a specific, narrow reason:

  • Model downloads. The first time you use a given model tier, its weight files download from WebLLM's public model hosting on Hugging Face. This is a one-time (per model, per device) download, cached afterward so the app can run fully offline.
  • Sign-in. Accounts are handled by Firebase Authentication (Google sign-in only). Firebase needs to verify who you are to know which account's entitlements and synced chats belong to you.
  • Synced chat history (signed-in users). If you're signed in, your chat history is stored in your account's Firestore document so it's available if you sign back in on another device. This document is readable and writable only by your own signed-in account — see the Firestore security rules referenced in Cookie Policy below for how that's enforced.
  • Payments. Upgrading to a paid plan sends you to Stripe's own hosted checkout page. Your card details are entered on Stripe's page, not ours — we never see or store them. Stripe's webhook confirms a successful payment back to our server, which then unlocks Pro for your account.
  • Support / bug reports. If you use the in-app Support or Report a Bug feature, the text you write, an optional screenshot, and basic device info (browser/OS, app language, active model ids) are sent only if you choose to submit them.

What's stored only on your device

Your language, theme, plan status (when not signed in), and chat history (when not signed in) are stored only in this device's local browser storage and are never transmitted anywhere.

Cookies and similar technology

See the Cookie Policy for the specifics — in short, we don't run analytics or advertising trackers; the only cookies/local storage involved come from Firebase Authentication, Google Sign-In, and this app's own local browser storage.
